Daniel Granato works as a Professor in
Food Science and Health at the Faculty of Science and Engineering – University
of Limerick, Ireland, and is an Adjoint Professor at the Department of
Biochemistry at the University of Turku and at the Department of Food Science
and Nutrition at the University of Helsinki (Finland). Granato is a Food
Engineer with MSc in Food Technology, PhD in Food Science – Experimental Nutrition,
PhD in Food Chemistry, and concluded his Post-Doctoral at Wageningen University
(Netherlands) and another Post-Doctoral at the State University of Ponta Grossa
(Brazil). His research projects are related to the Circular economy in food
systems, Chemometrics and Process/Product optimization, development, and
bioactivity of dairy foods. He has supervised >130
B.Sc., MBA, M.Sc., PhD candidates, and post-doctoral fellows. Granato is the Scientific Editor of Comprehensive Reviews in Food
Science and Food Safety and a Senior Editor of Food Chemistry. Granato has
published >290 peer-reviewed articles in top-tier journals, 21 book
chapters, 6 books, and 6 technological patents and innovation disclosures cited
over 16,900 times (hindex=68 and h10index=198). Granato has acquired
considerable external funding in different countries – €6M. He has been a
Highly Cited Researcher since 2018.
